]]> We wish to express our deepest condolences to the family of our dear colleague and friend, Dr. Maria Szebeni, who has recently passed away.

With Maria, we shared frequent and intense moments (with the Sea Marconi Team and at IEC TC 10) spanning over 25 years, focused on regulatory innovation activities (in the working groups of IEC TC 10, Cigre, etc.).

We admired Maria for her passion for life, the sweet smile of joy, and the profound gaze that accompanied the intelligent satisfaction of being appreciated by colleagues.

We want to convey the privilege of actively collaborating with Maria, appreciating her warmth and empathy, as well as her strong spirit of service and personal and professional commitment (as a qualified delegate from Hungary).

At the eighth “Regional Conference for national committees of CIGRE in the Arab Countries” (www.gcc-cigre-power.com), in Doha (Qatar) from 18th through 20th October Sea Marconi provided really innovative solutions.

The most important is surely the kit SM-TCS (Total Corrosive Sulfur), the unique really effective response for the total quantitative determination of corrosive compounds of sulfur. These compounds are indeed the main culprits for catastrophic failures on transformers, reactors, under-load tap changers and bushes, occurred in the last ten years in several Countries around the World.

The Conference of the Gulf Countries involved hundreds of experts coming also from outside the Middle-East area, offering the opportunity to share the state of the art in the management of fleets of strategic equipment, in the generation, transportation and distribution of electric power, as well as in desalinating and making water drinkable.

Vander Tumiatti (Ass. Secretary IEC TC 10) presented “DBDS & Corrosion free” Programme 2010: diagnosis and countermeasures. Quantitative determination and selective depolarisation.
