This service is aimed at ensuring the highest efficiency and safety of transformers, contributing to environmental protection, especially when choosing a natural ester fluid to replace mineral oil.

Mineral oil, historically used as an insulating liquid in transformers, can degrade over time, compromising the performance of the equipment and increasing the risk of service interruptions, environmental damage, and fires. Replacing oil with natural or synthetic esters is an effective solution to mitigate these risks and ensure the long-term proper functioning of the transformer.

SEA Marconi has developed and patented ISA – Inspection Sampling Audit, an innovative, easy-to-use and sustainable system designed to simplify and optimise inspection and sampling activities on transformers and electrical equipment with insulating fluids.

This system consists of two elements:

1. a sampling kit, representing an absolute innovation in the market, and

What performance/quality does this sampling kit guarantee?

Sea Marconi’s new sampling kit, essentially a flexible metal bottle, complies with IEC 60475 “Sampling method for insulating liquids” for the tests listed in the table below. However, despite our internal tests showing excellent performance in terms of accuracy and repeatability for all types of analysis, Sea Marconi continues to recommend using a glass syringe to sample fluids for dissolved gas analysis.
The new sampling kit is a sustainable solution aimed at replacing and surpassing, both in terms of performance and environmental impact, aluminum or glass bottles and plastic containers.

Mobile App for Inspection and Sampling

For the development of this app, Sea Marconi relied on a secure, reliable, and mature market product, appropriately customized for Sea Marconi. The result is a useful, simple and fast tool. Using the app, inspections and sampling can be guided, with a series of pre-filled fields (for customers) that remind the operator of what to check and how to do it.
The app records, tracks, and certifies the sampling operator, the date, time, and location of the activity, even in the absence of data signal. It is possible to collect photos, videos, sounds, text, signatures, and generate an instant inspection and sampling report that can be shared.

The app also has a back-end, a web platform that can also be used on a PC, for activity planning and historical activity consultation. This area, reserved for specific users, each with their own level of visibility, will be enriched in the future with all the diagnostic reports issued by the Sea Marconi laboratory and will become an access point to information on the health status of each customer’s machines.

The amount of gas dissolved in the transformer oil (or other electrical equipment) is the main indicator of electrical or thermal faults of the equipment and/or its accessories; for this reason the DGA (Dissolved Gas Analysis) is one of the most important measures in their life cycle management (LCM). The reference standard is IEC 60599 “Mineral oil-filled electrical equipment in service – Guidance on the interpretation of dissolved and free gases analysis” and offers guidelines for a correct interpretation of the analytical results. The LAB Mixing Unit increases the ratio of dissolution of gases into liquids during the preparation of calibration standards for Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), according to the IEC 60567 requirements “Oil-filled electrical equipment – Sampling of gases and analysis of free and dissolved gases- Guidance”. In fact following the IEC 60567, gas-in-oil standards (GIO-standard) shall be prepared in glass syringes with a degassed oil.

A known quantity of gas standard is injected into the oil already contained in a syringe. The dissolution of gas bubbles requires a constant mixing of the syringe. This operation is extremely time consuming if performed manually. Mixing Unit is an apparatus designed to mix syringes by automatic rotary movement. It can mix up to 8 syringes at the same time. This apparatus is composed by a rotating shaft equipped with 8 clamps to hold syringes or any other compatible glassware therefore it can used as mixer for any other chemicals.

The Lab Degassing Unit is a stainless steel vessel that allows to degas up to 5 liters of fluid at a pressure of around 10 mbar by a vacuum pump (the unit maintains vacuum conditions for several hours after the degassing process).
Through dedicated valves, vacuum can be broken blowing an inert gas in; subsequently the treated liquid sample can be directly sampled from the bottom by a syringe.

Due to its steel construction, all operations are performed safely, without any risk for the operators deriving from the breakage of a typical glass vessels.
Process parameters (temperature and vacuum level) can be continuously monitored by means of specific sensors (optional).
This apparatus is meant to optimize the degassing process during the preparation of gas in oil standards for Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) according to IEC 60567 (Ed 4.0 2011-10) – “Oil-filled electrical equipment – Sampling of gases and analysis of free and dissolved gases- Guidance.”
The Lab Degassing Unit is also suitable to perform other degassing processes on different fluids (e.g. R&D applications).
