			<p>Thanks to the three-year agreement signed at the end of 2014, one of the largest Italian companies (at the moment we can’t reveal the name) has entrusted the monitoring of its strategic transformers.<br />
Specifically, Sea Marconi has already begun to supply services for oil sampling in transformers, subsequent laboratory analysis and exclusive diagnostic engineering services (<strong>identification and classification of critical factors and relative counter-measures</strong>).<br />
As part of the agreement, if criticalities are found Sea Marconi can also perform integrated treatments on the oil and transformers, in order to restore normal operating conditions.<br />
Sea Marconi was awarded the contract thanks to the implementation of the <strong>best available techniques (BAT/BEP)</strong> and the experience acquired in the same field beyond national borders: in France and in Spain.</p>
<p>Sea Marconi is a supplier to the main “energy-consumptive” industries at an international level, or rather those companies in the business of generating large quantities of energy, for example the metallurgical, petroleum, food-production, automotive sectors. The other large category of Sea Marconi clients are those companies for whom energy is their core business, therefore those who produce, transmit, and distribute energy.<br />
All these companies share the common need to manage large quantities of energy and therefore to transform it, for various scopes. From here, the need is born for electrical transformers, fundamental, strategic and <strong>potentially dangerous devices if not correctly monitored</strong>. For this reason, the maintenance of transformers and the oil contained therein is a subject governed by standards, laws and international guidelines.<br />
Sea Marconi, in compliance with technical standards, supports holders of electrical oil filled transformers during the complex and delicate management of their life cycle, from the purchase and selection of the oil until its divestment and disposal.</p>

			<p align="justify">On <strong>10<sup>th</sup> May 2012</strong>, at the Belgian Embassy in <strong>Tokyo</strong>, Sea Marconi responded to the needs of Japan in identifying a solution to the PCBs problem in front of qualified participants coming from industry and the public sector, Sea Marconi teamed with two excellent European companies, the Belgian <strong>SITA Decontamination</strong> and the <strong>Dutch</strong> Orion. The three companies formed the consortium EES (European Environmental Solution) to provide the Rising Sun Country with a range of complete solutions as a single interface.</p>
<p>Sea Marconi’s solutions created a lot of interest with a very attentive and competent audience. The line of integrated services based upon BAT/BEP (Best Available Technique/ Best Environmental Practice) for the Life Cycle Management (LCM) of equipment in operation was particularly appreciated. Sea Marconi aims at keeping the transformers in operation by decontaminating them with a proprietary methodology (<strong>CDP Process®</strong>); in doing this, it is not necessary to dispose of neither the contaminated oil nor the transformer. We are able to reduce the level of contamination to <strong>0.5 mg/kg</strong> in compliance with <strong>Japanese laws</strong> and remove, at the same time, sulphureted compounds like DBDS (corrosive sulphur problem), polar and oxidised compounds as well as those of a chemical-physical nature.</p>
<p>The event of 10<sup>th</sup> May started, during the days to follow, a series of by-lateral deepening meetings, during which it was possible to analyse in details single cases, providing the basis for interesting co-operations both for Sea Marconi and the Japanese market.</p>
<p>The objective of a PCBs-free Japan by 206, would close a chapter started in 1968, when in the city of Yusho, a contamination by PCBs of rice oil caused by a leakage in a heat exchanger caused a disastrous intoxication involving 31,000 people. This “top event” started the first studies and the first international regulations on PCBs, such as, for example:</p>
<ul>
<li>976 Directive EEC 76/403/EEC regulating the use and the disposal of PCBs</li>
<li>1976 Directive 76/769/EEC relative to restrictions on the matter of putting on the market and using dangerous substances</li>
<li>1979 Publication on the Federal Register (USA) of the final laws issued by EPA (40 CFR PART/761) about the prohibition s for fabrications and regulations on the detention of PCBs.</li>
</ul>
<p>Currently, in Japan there are about 6 million transformers and a relevant share looks being contaminated by PCBs. Nowadays, with its extraordinary technical competence, the great attention for the environment and the relevant strict laws in this field, Japan represents for Sea Marconi, born in the same year of the Yusho disaster, a challenge and at the same time an opportunity to be once more a <strong>precious ally in fighting against the PCBs</strong>.</p>

			<p>Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th February 2011, at the Sea Marconi Headquarters in Collegno (Turin) a meeting was held with a Japanese delegation interested to the Sea Marconi’s solutions for the management of transformers contaminated by PCBs in Japan.</p>
<p>At the meeting participated Mr Toshihiko Takeo, general manager of JEMA, association of Japanese manufacturers in the electrical area, Mr Yo Osada, deputy director of WMF, foundation oriented toward the management of industrial wastes under the influence of the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, Mr. Hoogendoorn, president of Orion, a company active at international level in the treatment of PCBs and involved with the development of collaborations between European and Japanese enterprises.</p>
<p>During the meeting, it was learnt firstly that in Japan, <strong>within 2016</strong>, all the equipment and materials classified as PCBs must be treated; secondly, it was learnt that by law, the<strong> concentration limit is very low: 0.5 mg/kg for insulating oils</strong>. This concentration limit represents a challenge for Sea Marconi, already involved in developing a new analytical method, derived from standard IEC 61119. The result shall be a substantial improvement in the limit of detection, that shall move from 2 to 0.05 mg/kg of PCBs, a 40 times reduction. To ensure such result, Sea Marconi is improving the current <strong>CDP Process </strong>technology, both in terms of plant configuration <a href="https://seamarconi.com/en/systems-to-treat-oils-and-transformers/"><strong>DMU</strong> </a>and for what the formulation of solid reagents is concerned.</p>
<p>The Japanese delegation also had the possibility to visit a French site, where Sea Marconi is performing a decontamination form PCBs on five power rectifier transformers done with the <strong>CDP Process</strong> by Sea Marconi keeping the transformers energised and under full load for the entire duration of the intervention.</p>
<p align="justify">Sea Marconi, included as a member of <strong><a href="http://chm.pops.int/Programmes/PCBs/PCBs%20Elimination%20Network%20(PEN)/tabid/438/language/fr-CH/Default.aspx">PEN (PCBs Elimination Network)</a></strong>, is configured as an ideal technological partner, offering BAT-BEP (Best Environmental Technique – Best Environmental Practice) solutions, thanks to the “PCBs Free” Program: BAT/BEP – Inventory, Control, Management, Decontamination of Electrical Transformer contaminated by PCBs complying with the Stockholm Convention relative to POPs and the norm <a href="https://seamarconi.com/en/newsblog/con-la-nuova-norma-cenelec-clctr-50503-022010-la-risposta-mirata-alla-gestione-rischio-pcb/"><strong>CENELEC (CLC/TR 50503)</strong></a>.</p>

			<p>On 29th November 2010, a cognitive meeting took place at the headquarters of Sea Marconi in Collegno (Turin- Italy) with doct. Nurlan Yeskendirov, project manager charged by UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) to evaluate the best solutions for the <strong>management of the PCBs problem</strong> in the generation, transportation and use of electric power in <strong>Kazakhstan</strong>.</p>
<p>Talking of natural resources, <strong>Kazakhstan</strong> is probably the Country with the highest pro-capita wealth in the World: it has 60% of the mineral resources of the ex Soviet Uni­on, with large quantities of iron and coal, besides having oil, natural gas and different metals used by electronic, nuclear and missile industries. Kazakhstan has over 15 million inhabitants, over a surface almost 10 times bigger than our Country and a pro-capita GDP of 11,434 US $ (2008).</p>

			<p>Sea Marconi, which targets toward the conservation of resources through the complete decontamination of the oils contained by electrical equipment that can be kept in operation. This means preventing the production of waste, disposal, incineration, management costs of contaminated materials.</p>
<p align="justify">Sea Marconi provides the intervention with decontamination mobile units (DMUs) dehalogenating and detoxifying the PCBs present in the transformer and oil, reinstating optimised dielectric properties in compliance with standard IEC 60422.</p>

			<p>Following an invitation by <a href="http://www.unido.org/"><strong>UNIDO</strong></a> (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), on <strong>25<sup>th</sup> August</strong> Sea Marconi participated in <strong>New Delhi</strong> to a technical seminar on the “State of the art of alternative technologies for the <strong>management and disposal of PCBs</strong>.</p>
<p>The event represented another step (after those already brilliantly achieved) by the UNIDO commissioners evaluating Sea Marconi as a possible supplier for a technological solution finalized toward the management and decontamination of transformers with PCBs in India (inhabitants 1.156.897.766; GNP: 3.288.345 millions $).</p>
<p>Mr. Tumiatti, founder and main partner of Sea Marconi, illustrated in New Delhi the methods and the techniques used by his company, which, thanks to particularly environmentally friendly features, are considered at present as <strong><a href="https://seamarconi.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/BAT_1-6-1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BAT-BEP</a></strong> (Best Environmental Technique – Best Environmental Practice) and designated among <strong>NON-Combustion Technologies</strong>.</p>
<p>The responses received by the presentation – <strong>“PCBs Free” Program</strong>: BAT/BEP – Inventory, Control, Management, Decontamination of Electrical Transformer contaminated by PCBs – have been very positive, in particular, the approach provided by Sea Marconi toward the conservation of resources through a complete decontamination of the oils contained by the electrical equipment that can be kept in operation. This means preventing the production of waste, the disposal and incineration, the cost of managing contaminated materials.</p>
<p>Sea Marconi intervenes with its own decontamination units (<strong><a title="Tecnologie" href="https://seamarconi.com/it/impianti-per-il-trattamento-olio-e-trasformatori/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">DMU</a></strong>) eliminating the PCBs from the transformer and the oil, that recovers its optimised dielectric features.</p>
<p>The <strong>CDP Process</strong>, is performed on-site (also with the transformer in operation) in continuous, closet-loop mode without draining even partially the transformer.</p>
<p>Thanks to the funds budgeted by <a href="http://www.thegef.org/gef"><strong>GEF</strong></a> (Global Environment Facility) and destined to Developing Countries, UNIDO should implement a technology suitable for the decontamination of PCBs and, subsequently, making it available for an Indian national electricity operator.</p>
<p>Sea Marconi is ready to respond effectively with the experience and the know-how developed over 42 years of activity in this sector.</p>

A few days ago, in fact, the installation of a new system for the treatment of mineral insulating oils in operation has been completed in South Africa. The system has been developed and manufactured by Sea Marconi answering the logistic requirements and the processing limitations set by a specific Customer.SThe system developed for South Africa can be used for the <strong>dehalogenation of PCBs</strong> in oil, for the depolarisation of DiBenzoDiSulfide (DBDS) and corrosive sulfur compounds and can integrate the filtration, degassing and dehumidification under vacuum operations performed on its site by the Customer.</p>

			<p>Since the very first operational phases, the system has provided brilliant performances, such as, for example, a reduction of the concentration of PCBs <strong>from 800 mg/kg to &lt; 10 mg/kg</strong> in just 2 hours of treatment. This result is obtained by having the contaminated oil reacting with a special reagent developed and patented by Sea Marconi. The chemical reaction, during which the molecules of PCBs are decomposed transforming into neutral salts, takes place in a particular reactor, then the oil, now PCBs free, is separated from the reagent in an appropriate decanter.</p>
<p>Once again, sea Marconi responds in an efficient manner to the needs of its Customers, confirming its capacity in creating <strong>synergies</strong> offering<strong> really effective solutions for the problems of each Customer</strong>.</p>
