From 26 to 30 April 2026, Lyon hosted GeoFuture Lyon 2026 — Congrès international des partenariats scientifiques et de l’investissement durable: five days structured around four thematic pillars — Geomatics, Earth Sciences, Space, Energy — with scientific, institutional and economic delegations from Europe, Africa and the Middle East, under the patronage of the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

Among the voices at the opening ceremony on 27 April, at the Hôtel de Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and at the closing workshop on 30 April dedicated to the Europe–Africa–Middle East partnership, was that of Vander Tumiatti, Founder of SEA Marconi, invited by the organisers to share his perspective on the energy transition and sustainable investments.

The Global Leadership in Energy Innovation & Sustainability Award

During the congress, the Union Euro-Arabe de Géomatique (UEAG) presented Vander Tumiatti with the Global Leadership in Energy Innovation & Sustainability Award, an international recognition for his commitment to energy innovation and sustainability. The award is linked to Tumiatti’s entrepreneurial and scientific journey: since 1968, the year SEA Marconi was founded, he has contributed to the development of independent methodologies for the diagnosis and treatment of electrical transformers and insulating fluids, taking the company into more than 100 countries worldwide.

“The Power of Knowledge and the Energy of Transformation”

In the opening scientific session, chaired by Prof. Mohamed Naceur Chamem, Tumiatti shared an industrial experience spanning 58 years, rooted in SEA Marconi’s signature medical metaphor: the transformer as a living organism, managed through independent protocols of Diagnosis, Prognosis and Treatment.

His presentation covered the database built over nearly six decades — more than 89,000 transformers recorded across 80 countries and 1.23 million tests performed — and the technological and European research developments that carry his vision forward today: the patented multi-treatment unit i³ Apollo Fluid Care (2026), with potential applications in data centres and aerospace, and the BIOTRAFO and RETROTRAFO projects (Horizon Europe, 28 partners from 17 countries) dedicated to biodegradable fluids and retrofilling.

“Today’s Commitment for Future Generations”: with these closing words, Tumiatti summarised the vision that continues to guide his work — the same one that, in Lyon in 2026, received international recognition.

A recognition of competence and vision

The award confirms SEA Marconi’s role as an international benchmark in electrical asset management, with solutions that enhance the safety, reliability, sustainability and resilience of power networks.

The BioEnPro H2O project, led by Sea Marconi, is part of the Spoke 2 of NODES (Digital and Sustainable North West), an innovation ecosystem that promotes the green and digital transition in Northwestern Italy. NODES brings together universities, research centers, and businesses, with Spoke 2 focusing on technologies for the ecological transition and the circular economy.

BioEnPro H2O researches and develops new prototypes and demonstrators (TRL6) capable of transforming the residual “resources” produced by communities (compost, sewage sludge, biomass and organic waste, landfill leachate, etc.) into “clean” water (for industrial, firefighting, irrigation use, etc.), bioenergy, bio-based products, algal and/or aquatic biomass, and biohydrogen.

Sea Marconi is gearing up to be a key player in the Chilometro Blu project (CH2ILOMETRO BLU), an ambitious challenge for circular economy in the West Area of Turin.
Chilometro Blu is part of a broader project program, led by the Territorial Pact of the West Area of Turin, which achieved the prestigious second place nationally in the call for proposals by the Ministry of Industry and Made in Italy (d.dir. July 30, 2021) obtaining a funding of 10 million euros.

Promoted by the City of Collegno, Chilometro Blu represents a unique opportunity to ground a vast experience gained in the territory in the field of urban and industrial waste management (resources), research, technological innovation, and sustainable development. The project aims to create a reference center for circular bioeconomy, actively involving the University of Turin, Polytechnic of Turin, companies, trade unions, and employer organizations.

Sea Marconi, along with other prominent entities such as Snam, Saipem, Barricalla, Gruppo Cidiu, PUNCH Hydrocells Amma, Asja, will be an integral part of this project, contributing with its know-how and advanced solutions in the field of circular bioeconomy. In particular, Sea Marconi’s BioEnPro H2 project will be integrated into the context of Chilometro Blu, aiming for hydrogen and food production from intensified greenhouses with a negative CO2 balance, without the use of electrolyzers. This project, which continues the research and innovations born in the previous project BIOENPRO4TO, has the potential to find applications at national, European, and international levels once industrialized.

The success of the Chilometro Blu project is the result of synergistic collaboration between institutions, business and trade union organizations, universities, and industrial groups, with Sea Marconi playing a key role in promoting circular economy and technological innovation in the West Area of Turin.

From 1 to 4 September, at 9 pm, the Collegno Folk Festival will host “Four folk tales for the Circular Economy”. The initiative, born from the collaboration between the lead partner Sea Marconi and the University of Turin, is part of the research project BioEnPro4TO – Smart Solutions for Smart Communities. The aim of the project is to transform residual materials generated by small and medium-sized communities, such as waste, biomass and sewage sludge, into bioenergy and new bio products.

The purpose of the initiative is to present, in the first instance to the communities of Western Turin involved in BioEnPro4TO, the development directions of the project and the values ??that animate it, through an innovative format accessible to an audience of all ages.
The four evenings will see, at the opening of the Folk Festival concerts in Collegno (Turin), the theatrical reading of four folk tales on the themes of # community, #bioeconomy, #environment and #sustainability and introduced by the Mayor of Collegno Dr. Francesco Casciano.
The choice of popular tales, “folk tales”, as a communication tool goes well with the theme of the Folk Festival and with the suggestions underlying BioEnPro4TO: the relationship between human beings and the environment, the technological magic of solutions for the sustainable production of energy, the fight against climate change, a careful eye on the whole community and in particular on future generations.

The BIOENPRO4TO project (333-2012) aims to produce Bioenergy and Bioproducts through an integrated conversion processes of the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (OFMSW), of primary and / or residual biomass (pruning residues and maintenance of cuttings  of the public green, civil waste water purification sludge, etc.) and other residual materials (inputs) that are generated by the daily life of the communities of the Torino Ovest area and surrounding areas.
