The EDF client’s request for a solution for control of bushings with oil and SF6, used as accessories of generation transformers, has been concluded with great success. Sea Marconi’s response has recently been converted into a three-year contract for representative sampling and diagnostics of bushings and insulating fluids. These activities are an exclusive competence of Sea Marconi and, for this purpose, we have recently validated a new method with specific procedures and dedicated equipment. In fact, sampling of bushings with oil and SF6 is a rather complex operation that involved various months of intense R&D activity.
The request of the EDF nuclear generation client followed various criticalities of the type “SF6 in oil – seal failure” and, in particular, faults between the membranes that separate the oil and SF6.
Under the new contract, Sea Marconi will provide a prompt response for sampling, determination of dissolved gasses (DGA) in the oil, including SF6 and subsequent diagnosis supported by a consolidated statistical database for the typical or alarm values of this type of bushing. This will permit optimal life cycle management (LCM) of the assets for “loss prevention and environmental protection”.
