Upon the invitation of institutional authorities and local Utilities, on 18th April 2011, Vander Tumiatti travelled to Mongolia as expert in the management of electrical equipment with insulating oils and PCBs.
The economy of Mongolia (2.736.800 inhabitants over a surface of 1.565.000 km²) is mainly based on considerable natural resources such as oil, coal and copper. Industry represents currently 21.4 % of the GNP, equivalent to the share of the agricultural sector (20.4 %). At present there are about 30,000 small enterprises, the majority of which are located in the capital, whereas outside urban areas, subsistence sheep farming is prevalent. Since 2002, the GNP is constantly increased, however over 35% of the population lives below the poverty level.
During the Vendor Meeting* held in Ulan Bator, within the GEF/UNIDO Project, Vander Tumiatti presented Sea Marconi’s solutions “GreenPro Transfo“, emphasising the main point of force: supporting the Users of electrical equipment with insulating oils and PCBs during the entire life cycle (LCM – Life Cycle Management).
During his presentation, Vander Tumiatti illustrated the “PCBs Free Program”, a line of integrated services for the inventory, control, management and decontamination of electric transformers contaminated by PCBs in compliance with the Convention of Stockholm and the technical norms of the sector: CENELEC CLC/TR 50503, IEC 60422 Ed. 3 2005.
Sea Marconi is an international leader in the management of electrical equipment with insulating fluids, strategic equipment in the production, transportation, distribution and use of electric power. The leading service in the decontamination from PCBs is the CDP Process®, the technology considered as Best Available Technique/ Best Environmental Practice (BAT/BET) also indicated in the CIGRE brochure no. 413 (April 2010).
After the initial training (PCBs management) of some representatives and the Sea Marconi’s headquarters and the training in Mongolia for the start-up of the analyses laboratory, sea Marconi is ready to develop an ad hoc project finalised toward the continuation of the service through the evaluation of the functional (see IEC 61619) and/or environmental criticalities for each single equipment. All this must, obviously, consider the priority of actions of the Customer and, in particular, the peculiar operational scenario: a very vast territory, scarcely populated, where the difficulty for replacing equipment and insulating oils is evident.
Sea Marconi, included among the members of PEN (PCBs Elimination Network), is configured as an ideal partner offering extremely effective solutions targeted toward the conservation of resources, respecting the environment.
