Sustainable PCBs-free solutions in Macedonia; inaugurated the Sea Marconi plant

Thursday November 29th, 2012

On 7th November 2012. at the specialised centre organised by the company RADE KONCAR in Skopje (Macedonia), the plant developed by Sea Marconi for the decontamination and recovery of oils and transformer contaminated by PCBs (Polychlorinated biphenyls) has been inaugurated.

The project for the “environmental protection through the reduction and the elimination of dangerous substances such as PCBs in the oil of transformers” has seen the participation by UNIDOGEF and the Macedonian Ministry of the Environment, since it fully responds to what is required by the Stockholm Convention about Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).

Sea Marconi supplied a stationary decontamination plant using the proprietary technology CDP Process®, complying not only with International Directives, but ensuring at the same time the Best Available Technique / Best Environmental Practice (BAT/BEP) for the decontamination/detoxification of transformers and oils (both at end-of-life and in operation) contaminated by PCBs. The performances of our plant provide a complete decontamination from PCBs with a residual concentration of just 2 mg/kg, fully complying with international norms.

For Sea Marconi participated Alessandro Capo, international sales manager, and Vander Tumiatti, founder and main partner. The event had a wide visibility on the local media (see below) since, thanks to the Sea Marconi plant, Macedonia can show the first plant for the dehalogenation of oils and transformers in the entire Balkan area.

Our solution won a very though international tender and has fully complied with all the commitments imposed, by offering not only the technology, but also an education and training program as well as a continuous support.

Sea Marconi confirms its leadership in providing sustainable solutions such as “GreenPro Transfo“, supporting the users of electrical equipment with insulating oils and PCBs during the entire life cycle (Life Cycle Management – LCM). The approach by Sea Marconi always keeps faith with the respect for the environment by proposing solutions allowing the conservation of resources in operation (equipment and oils) or to increase their value during the end-of-life phase.
