A delegation from Mongolia has been trained for the management of PCBs

Thursday September 16th, 2010

A three-day training session on the management of PCBs provided by Sea Marconi to a delegation coming from Mongolia, was concluded with a visit to a work site in Porto Venere.

The contacts with Mongolia, matured within a project promoted by UNIDO, started about a year ago. Then in the subsequent months, the need by their side to start a training path finalised toward the deepening of the PCBs problem was recognised.

The three-day training provided to the Mongolian delegation had as topic: PCBs MANAGEMENT – Transformers and other oil filled electrical equipments.

The first two days have been mostly theoretical; topics such as the definition of PCBs and the interaction with the environment, the European legislative setting and the decontamination techniques of PCBs have been explained, with a particular focus on the solutions offered by Sea Marconi. The third day, on the other hand, was dedicated to a field training session, in particular in a site in the province of La Spezia, where Sea Marconi is performing an operation of selective depolarization on three transformers.

The Mongolian delegation included six elements, among them a delegate from the Ministry of Resources and Energy and one from the Ministry of the Environment, two delegates from the World Bank for energy in Mongolia and two representatives of Utilities operating in the distribution of electric power.

We are very proud we could share our company know-how with these very interested and keen persons.

We are sure that the relationship will continue and Sea Marconi shall be e precious support for the Republic of Mongolia in managing the PCBs problem.

A special thanks goes to Mr. Ganbaatar Dovdon, Manager of the World Bank for energy in Mongolia, directly involved in making this project happen and Mrs. Ariunbileg Radnaa, national coordinator of the UNIDO/GEF project “ Development of capability for the environmentally compatible management and the disposal of PCBs in Mongolia”, for the professionalism in the inter-relation and the translations.
