Within the theme call ”Ambient” is currently being evaluated a very promising European project (7th Frame work program (FP7)) using Sea Marconi’s experience in intermediate pyrolysis to improve the performance of agricultural soils.
The project, designated as C-Lock, is the work of a consortium of enterprises and research institute of primary importance at European level.
The objective is to find the best biomasses and the relevant process configurations to produce “biochar” from the solid residue of the pyrolysis. Biochar is a carbon compound of biogenic origin that, used as amendment in agricultural or marginal soils, improves the performances with a lower use of fertilisers.
Also, this innovative product, is advantageous under an environmental point of view, thanks to its intrinsic characteristic of trapping carbon (“C-Lock”) in the soil, thus contributing to reduce atmospheric CO2 (“CO2 negative technology”). Sea Marconi participates to the project, coordinated by UK Biochar Research Centre, as supplier of know-how and pyrolysis technologies “Haloclean”.
Sea Marconi, ideas and innovation for the environment.
